One month ago I made the best decision of my life and married the most wonderful man in the world. I'm so thankful for him and the circumstances in our lives that brought us together. This picture definitely sums up our wedding day. Best day ever! (Fist pump!)
For those of you who are married out there know that you can learn a lot about a person by living with them...Especially the very first month.
Three Things Learned in 31 Days:
1. Matty has a thing for pillows. Yes, he cares whether the pillow is down, feather, feather AND down, down alternative, etc. I hardly use pillows so I could care less what my pillow feels like never the less what it's stuffed with! So going to target together with our gift-cards from the wedding (shout out to all those people who gave us wonderful wedding gifts! We're so blessed and thankful!) was a big learning experience for me. It was almost a 45 minute process (yes, just in the pillow aisle)...feeling and hugging each pillow. Weighing the options...literally and hypothetically. When all was said and done we walked out of target nearly $125 less rich (sounds better saying it that way:)) with 2 feather and down king size pillows and 2 down queen size pillows. It was an adventure and I'm thankful for my husband's pillow expertise :)
2. Matty can and will eat at least 6 pieces of bacon every morning. If time permitted and we had all the bacon in the world this literally would happen. He loves bacon! It's a plus because I love to cook egg in the middle for breakfast ("One Eyed Sailors" if you know it by that name...RECIPE PLUG: butter bread, cut a hole in the center and crack the egg in the hole and cook...love it! Courtesy to my dad for teaching me.) Matty loves that so add bacon to the side and I've got a very happy husband!
3. Matty talks/screams in his sleep. Oh yes...the whole learning to sleep next to another person thing is a fun one for me because I don't ever know what to expect when Matt is asleep! One of the first nights after we got married, I woke up to Matt yelling at the top of his lungs, "No! No! No!" while he was ripping the blankets away from me. I was terrified! I tried to wake him up but as I've been warned, he doesn't wake up for anything! So I just waited there till I could slowly pull some of the blankets back to my side of the bed and go back to sleep. Crazy night! He really does talk almost every night. I wish he would sing in his sleep. That would be pretty sweet, right?
I asked Matty three things he's learned about me in the past month and he thought about for a while and then handed me a piece of paper that looked like this:
Because the picture is poor quality, I'll clarify.
1. "Kelly wakes up every time I talk in my sleep." It's true. On our honeymoon I woke up to another person's alarm clock that was going off in another room...so of course I'm going to wake up when you talk in full voice right next to me. It makes me smile (now) but as I mentioned before, it would make me smile more if you sang in your sleep so I can hear that pretty voice more often. Please oh please?
2. "Just me unlocking the door to get into the house when I come home almost makes her pee her pants." Yes, Matthew, I'm a scared-y cat; a worry wart; all of the above! It doesn't help that we've been glued to the seasons of 24...I feel like I need to pull a "Jack Bauer" up in here!
3. "She can actually cook really well." Actually huh? I love the phrasing he uses. Thinking back though, I cooked very little while we were dating so the word "actually" works and no offense taken :) I love to cook and love to experiment with things...sounds scary, right? Sometimes I like to think I'm on the food TV show "Chopped". Seen it? Matt and I love it (I got him hooked)! Basically, I like to grab stuff out of the pantry and fridge and make them all work together....you can imagine the interesting things I come up with. One time I made BBQ chicken thighs with raspberry jam over brown rice...sounds weird but we really liked it! Matt went back for seconds and thirds. In my book, that means he liked it. I love doing crock pot recipes! However, I'm still perfecting my roast...last time, the veggies were perfectly cooked but the meat was super dry. I've learned my lesson (Thanks to my father) and I am excited to try it again!
Happy One Month, Matty.
love it - and you aren't the only one that pretends she's on chopped! Such a great show!!! love you
